Never before have we experienced interest rates as low as they currently are in the economic down cycle.  It’s tempting to wait and see when we think the market will hit bottom.  The truth is, nobody can say when it has hit bottom until we have hindsight.  By then, it’s too late and you’ve missed the bus.  Interest rates will not last at these levels and the good housing inventory will be gone first.  Now is the time to get first pick of the litter while your perfect house is out there and market conditions are great.
